چکیده

Background and objective Particulate matter (PM) is the most dangerous form of air pollution, causes many diseases. Plants act as bio-filters to help reduce PM in atmosphere. also influences growth plants, so selecting suitable plant species for specific environmental conditions very important. The pollution tolerance index (APTI) was used determine level each pollution. purpose this study various order identify that can be grown polluted environments; achieved by evaluating APTI plants. This analyzed biochemical parameters 12 at two sites with different levels (urban forest roadside) assess compare species. Methods healthy leaves (6 broad 6 needle leaves) are commonly landscapes Korea were chosen study. same collected from immediately; one site an urban (Chungcheongbuk-do Forest Environment Research Institute) area 25 ha featuring high vegetation coverage, while other a high-traffic roadside next crossroads near Cheongju Express Bus Terminal. We leaf samples analyze four plant: extract pH (pH), relative water content (RWC), total chlorophyll (TChl), ascorbic acid. Finally, based on these values, values calculated. Results between all both had significant correlation showed ranging 6.89–9.37 7.57–9.94, respectively. tended higher than plants forest. Among species, Acer palmatum, buergerianum, Pinus densiflora values. These serve biofilters environments Conclusion aid selection some may show their under pollution-related stress, or demonstrate adaptability environment. In future, we need examine more understand correlate Further, studies pollutants influence growth, such SO2 NOx, should conducted.

A comparative study for air pollution tolerance index of some terrestrial plant species

Although water and land pollution are very dangerous, air pollution has its own peculiarities due to its transboundary dispersion of pollutants over the entire world. In any well planned urban set up, industrial pollution takes a back seat and vehicular emissions take precedence as the major cause of urban air pollution. In the present study, Air pollution tolerance index was calculated for var...
